The Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center promotes responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of all animals by providing educational programs to school children, scout troops, and community and service organizations, as well as at a variety of community events.
Pet Adoption Center Tours
Guided tours are available most days 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Guided tours explore the history of the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center as well as the services we provide to our community. In addition, information regarding responsible pet care/humane education is discussed along with a Q&A session. Groups are able to view both public and private areas of the Center to gain a better sense of what we do each day!
Animal Kids Camp
Animal Kids Camp is our day camp for kids who love animals. We offer camp in the summer and during the local winter and spring breaks. If your kids want to spend time with animals and learn even more about them, this camp is for them!
Spend hands-on time with our pet adoption center cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens. Learn fun and new facts about our animals. Participate in animal-themed crafts, activities, and games. Hear from fantastic guest speakers who work with animals. Make new friends who love what you love – the animals, of course!
Birthday Parties
Spend your special day with pets at the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center!
Children enjoy fun games, crafts and animal interactions in an outside shaded area. Party schedules book up very quickly, so please call or email well in advance of your child's birthday for party availability. Parties are for children between the ages of 6-12.
Helping Hounds - Middle School Program
Middle school students aged 11 through 13 have an opportunity to earn Service Learning Hours while learning about and helping animals at the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center through the Helping Hounds program.
Report Resources & Student Engagement
Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center is happy to assist with high school and college student projects.
PAC Paws Reading Program
The PAC Paws Reading Program helps children ages 6-13 develop compassionate relationships with animals by providing an opportunity for both kids and animals to spend time together in a calm and respectful environment.
Children can practice their reading skills in a fun and non-judgmental atmosphere while giving our resident animals the chance to get socialization. The focus of the interaction is on reading rather than the animal, which teaches children how to be respectful of an animal’s space and body and provides a safe, positive interaction for the animal.

Girl Scout Patch Program
There are four levels of patches for girls to earn: Daisy, Brownie, Junior, and Cadette. Each level has a number of fun, educational activities for Girl Scouts to learn about pets. Topics covered include: safety around animals, the needs of pets, pet overpopulation, and the importance of proper pet identification.
Service Projects
Thank you for wanting to help the animals for your service project! Check out some ideas of things you can do to help animals for your project. If you have another idea, please share it with us!
Study Buddy Program
Attention High School and College Students! Are you looking for a pawsitive environment to study and relax in? Or, have you been holed up in the library and glued to the screen for hours? Come to the Pet Adoption Center and study with cats! Your session includes coffee/water, snack, free Wi-Fi, and cat study buddies.
Humane at Home
Humane education activities can fit that need. Our humane education department has put together fun activities for kids to do at home.
Donation Dogs
Check out some of the wonderful children, students, scouts, and girl scouts who made donation, created service projects, earned patches, and so much more. From the tips of our tails, to the bottom of our paws we are grateful to all of them for helping cats, dogs, puppies and kittens at the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center.
